ABOUT HAREDATA

Established in 1984

In 1984 we were a manufacturer of our own range of linear power supplies and chargers which became very popular and were supplied to many companies over the years, in fact this range was manufactured right up until 2005.

In 1986 Haredata partnered up with FRIWO Geratebau GmbH, the world’s leading innovators & manufacturers of low voltage external power supplies & battery chargers. Still to this day we are known as one of FRIWO’s longest serving agents.

Through our long association with FRIWO, Haredata Electronics has managed to remain at the forefront of external power supply and battery charger design.

FRIWO were one of the first companies to recognise the advantages and potential of switchmode power supplies, and designed market leading products in response to OEM requirements, including the 1st external interchangeable unit for worldwide use!

2005

The company underwent a management buyout in 2005 and has gone from strength to strength ever since!

Relocating twice, from our original premises in the centre of town to a larger unit on the outskirt of Harrogate and since 2012 a 10,000ft2 facility on the south side of Knaresborough has been our home

2012

In addition to the full range of FRIWO power products, Haredata Electronics can also offer the FRIWO range of Li-Ion battery packs - designed and engineered with the same exacting standards the market has come to expect from FRIWO along with a full range of NimH batteries and battery packs through our more recent association with GP batteries. We also offer a wide selection of mains leads for various industrial applications, offering our customers a single source for their power needs.

However, we are much more than just a distributor, we are able to offer in depth design and technical support to our OEM customers and offer a wide range of value add assembly services.

2020

The year of New innovation, this includes the latest NEO PSU, new technology based around IoT and a brand new Drive System Solution, know respectably as E-Mobility.

By Ben Winstanley 05 May, 2021
Switchmode Power Supplies vs Linear Power Supplies The vast majority of low voltage external power supplies sold globally these days are switching (switchmode) units, as opposed to the original Linear technology, which is only considered appropriate for certain niche markets due to it’s inability to meet required efficiency standards. In this article we will explore just some of the technical aspects & features and benefits of Switchmode topology vs Linear.
Micro USB Vs USB-C Comic Battle - Visual Created by Haredata Electronics
By Ben Winstanley 28 Jan, 2021
The micro USB connector has been the most common connector for plug top devices for the last few years, but as with everything the times are changing. This is where the Type-C USB has started to step in, with more and more pieces of tech coming with a Type-C charger rather than the old favourite. So the question is why? If the old micro USB isn’t broken then why ‘fix’ it?

What is MDR? The New Medical Device Regulation
By Ben Winstanley 29 Oct, 2020
What is MDR? Medical Device Regulation MDR is a new regulation issued by the European Parliament and the council of medical devices. It is replacing previous medical device directives 90/385/EEC and 93/42/EEC. The requirements of the new regulation are more complex than previously and are different per product. The vast majority of products are subject to new labelling and documentation requirements, such as; • Requirements for a unique device identification number (UDI) • Traceability of products The new requirements specified by the MDR cover each role played by differing companies on the supply chain, meaning at each step there are new responsibilities to be aware of. When does the MDR come into play? The MDR was initially due to begin the transition in May of this year but due to the global pandemic it is has been postponed to 26th May 2021. This transition deadline has to be met by all companies and suppliers by the date. What does MDR mean for power supplies?
